Associate LecturerIntroduction to Business Administration is, as stated in its name, an introductory course, whose main purpose is to familiarize students with basic concepts in the field of Business Administration. Firstly, fundamental concepts such as shareholder/stakeholder are defined, the various factors of the external environment and how they might influence the activity of an organization are explored, and several typologies of organisations and economic sectors are analysed. In the second part of the semester the perspective shifts to the microeconomic level and the main functions/departments of an organisation are discussed. As an introductory subject, its main aim is to give learners a general overview of how a company is organized and how it is influenced by the main factors from the external environment. The teaching methods are interactive and students will learn through various practical examples, case studies, debates and real business simulations.
