Stefan Dominic Georgescu
I am a double-affiliated professional – University of Economic Studies and Romanian Academy. I conduct both fundamental and applied reserch projects. My fields of expertise are Applied Ethics (Business Ethics, Public Sector Ethics, Academic Ethics, Professional Ethics, Organizational Ethics), Philosophy of Economics, History of Romanian Philosophy, Philosophical Logic, and Philosophy of German Idealism.
As a theoretical contribution in applied ethics, I have developed the concept of “generative ethics” which settles down the background for explaining the role of ethics in organizations, I have brough substantial clarifications regarding the difference among various types of applied ethics (especially business and private sector types), and I have contributed to to the proper ellaboration of the notion of corporate social responsibility, linking it to the concept of moral agency that supports the idea of an organization as an ethical entity that is able to bear moral responsibilitues. As for the practical side, I have worked in many research projects that had a applied research side – including one for which the beneficiary was the Romanian Government – and I was a part of the university team of experts that ellaborated and modified the Carta (especially the Code of Ethics).
Since I have B.A. both in business administration and philosophy, my most important contribution to the university’s life is to bring together the theoretical manner of the second one with the concerd for the practical side of the first one.
