Elena Nechita, Ph.D., chartered accountant, is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Accounting and Audit of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, currently teaching financial accounting according to IFRS, accounting policies and options and consolidated accounting.
She earned her Ph.D. in Accounting from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and has gained over 8 years of experience working as senior accountant in the private sector. She is a member of the Chamber of Chartered and Certified Accountants of Romania (CECCAR), the International Association of Accounting Education and Research (IAAER) and the European Accounting Association (EAA).
Elena has authored articles on accounting, with the main research interest in earnings management and the quality of financial reporting under IFRS, as well as accounting for sustainable development. She serves on the organizing committees of the International Conference Accounting and Management Information Systems (AMIS), the International Conference on Economics and Social Sciences (ICESS), both held at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. She also serves as Secretary General for the local organizing committee of the 43rd Annual Congress of the European Accounting Association.
