The Global Value Chain course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the concepts, principles, and practices related to global value chains (GVCs). The course explores how value is created, distributed, and governed within GVCs, addressing the challenges these chains face in today’s globalized world. Students will gain insight into the vital role GVCs play in the world economy and learn about their design, governance, and functioning.
The course covers key topics such as the role of product and price strategies in value creation, the importance of stakeholder relationships within GVCs, and the strengths and weaknesses that impact their performance. Students will also be encouraged to analyze the current challenges faced by GVCs and identify opportunities for improving their efficiency and effectiveness.
By the end of the course, students will develop a proactive approach to supporting national companies in engaging and competing within global value chains, equipping them with the skills necessary to contribute to the ongoing evolution of GVCs in the global economy.
